STEM-FAIR

On May 18, we hosted our very first STEM-Fair! With over fourteen incoming sophomores joining, we were off to to a very good start.

We first talked about why students should join the healthcare field, given it has great flexibility and makes a strong community impact. We then talked about common summer programs that are good for your college apps, along with going into some of the extracurriculars for school, such as HOSA or Science Olympiad. We then also dived into some of the colleges that are best for pre-med, before handing it off to our two guest speakers, Dr. Annie Todd (dentist) and Raya Sai (rising junior at Notre Dame San Jose). Dr. Todd explained her medical journey as a high school student all the way to her residency, and talked about the expectations and efforts one must put in for the healthcare field. Raya talked about her experience as a high schooler actively interested in the medical field, and what she has done so far for college applications. It was a great success, as we were able to help many incoming sophomores as they continue on into their high school journey, and we plan to host more of these meetings.
